What help is available for university students with special needs?

You may have special requirements relating to specific learning difficulties or physical disabilities. Facilities and levels of support vary from campus to campus. A good starting point for your research is www.skill.org.uk, which offers national coverage. Otherwise, never hesitate to take your matter up directly with any university you are considering.

The disability adviser for the university will be able to tell you what support is available and will help you arrange a visit.  Don’t be afraid to ask any questions you may have, the adviser is there to help.  A good question might be to ask how many students currently at the university have special needs or what would happen if you started the course but then encountered problems.
